    The Åkesson family lived at the Skåne Farmstead between 1912 and 1925. Come and help them with today's chores.

    The eastern wing contains the kitchen which was housed in a separate building because of the risk of fire. And with the kitchen at a distance the manor was not disturbed. Food was prepared on the iron range and there was special provision for dishes

    The Old Shop (Kryddboden) on the left as you enter displays a black brush, originally a gun brush, which was the traditional sign of grocers.

    During the First World War there were shortages of potatoes and other staple foods in the cities. In Stockholm the Council let Tanto be cultivated by working-class families, many of whom worked in the neighbouring sugar refinery.

    The Mora farmstead shows how farmers lived in Dalarna. It includes the farmhouse, a cottage for older people, stables and a storehouse for food and clothing that was also used for sleeping in during the summer.
