Tjolahopp tjolahej – 80 years with Pippi Longstocking

On the weekend of May 10–11, 2025, Skansen will be bursting with joy and celebration! You're invited to two fun-filled days of music, theatre, tasty treats, and exciting activities as we celebrate the 80th birthday of Pippi Longstocking – the strongest girl in the world.

  • In collaboration with Astrid Lindgren Company

  • Solliden stage, 11.00, 12.00 and 15.00
The show is approx. 30 minutes. Open seating. Stroller parking is available outside the stage area.

  • Browse the lively market square filled with stalls – from sweet treats and food trucks to products inspired by the world of Astrid Lindgren.

Don’t miss the chance to test your strength against Mighty Adolf at the strength challenge!

  • Dive into the haystack or try games from your great-grandparents’ childhood. Roll a hoop, walk on stilts, hop in a sack, and explore other classic games from days gone by.

  • Balance on the roof ridge

Balance along the rooftop like Mardie or challenge a friend on the “don’t-touch-the-ground” course!

Try your hand at whittling just like Emil in Lönneberga, or craft a linden bark bracelet together with Skansen’s village team. Step inside the Pippi playhouse from Polhus – and don’t miss the chance to enter the raffle to win a playhouse of your own!

  • Woodpile Workshop

Join Skansen’s village team and help build a traditional round woodpile, where the firewood will dry before being stacked in the woodshed. Children can try making their own little wood dolls from kindling.

  • Walk and Knit

Join Skansen’s village team as they stroll through Skansen’s rural settings – knitting as they go! Listen to stories about the history of knitting and why women used to “walk and knit.” Curious to try it yourself? You’re welcome to give it a go!

  • Skansen’s strolling musicians

Pause for a moment, enjoy the music, and sing along as Skansen’s strolling musicians fill the park with beloved tunes and classic songs.

  • Galejan fairground

Hop on the vintage rides or try your luck at the raffles and the traditional fish pond game.

  • Houses and farmsteads

Many of Astrid Lindgren’s stories take place in the past. What was it like to be a child in Emil’s, Madicken’s, or the Noisy Village children’s time? Step inside Skansen’s many historic houses and farmsteads to find out
