Sámi National Day

Since 1992, the Sámi National Day has been celebrated on February 6. Every year we invite you to commemorate the Sámi National Day at Skansen, in partnership with the Stockholm Sámi Association. The celebrations begin on February 6 and continues throughout the week until February 11.

  • Welcome to take part in Sámi history, culture and modern-day celebration! Visit the buildings at Saemien Sijte (the Sámi site), learn more about reindeers, visit a film screening, do crafts, participate in the National Day ceremony with the Sámi anthem and joiking – and many more acitivites!
